MOLCAN820: MCB 820: “Cancer Research from Concept to Translation.”
MCB 820 was developed as a modular course that allows students to “learn from the experts” across the cancer research spectrum. Each faculty member contributes through an activity of their choice, which may include: A focused lecture series or mini-module on their research area Moderated discussions or debates on current controversies Review and discussion of landmark or recent publications from their laboratory or field Clinical case studies, including the option for supervised clinic shadowing A combination of the above formats These activities are designed for small groups of 4–5 students, enabling deep engagement and personalized interaction. The format encourages cross-disciplinary understanding, connecting molecular and cellular concepts to translational strategies and clinical decision-making.

Medical Student Courses
NEUROSUR-404C. Neuro-Oncology. This 4-week advanced rotation will allow medical students to experience Medical Neuro-Oncology. Students will rotate in the Brain Tumor Center (BTC) Clinic, located in Cancer Center Clinic 3-1, with medical neuro-oncology faculty and interact with neuropathology faculty at the neuropathology consensus conference. Students will develop a clinical foundation in the care of brain tumor patients and will have the chance to care for patients with primary and metastatic brain malignancies during all times of the illness trajectory (at diagnosis, during treatment, stable disease, at tumor progression, and transitioning to palliative care). Attendance at weekly adult and pediatric neurooncology tumor board, weekly neuropathology consensus conference, monthly integrative neurooncology conference, and monthly research educational meeting is encouraged for all students in this rotation. For more information, please contact Mustafa Khasraw via email.
